Date: 9/28/24
Location: Old Stone Jail Cambria County Pa
Investigators: Only 3 team members attended, and this is a small location that is very wide open, with sound bleeding through floors.
Weather: Rainy, windy, damp, and warm.
Noise: The location is on a main road in the downtown area, and outside noise does leak in.
There were no remarkable EMF readings.
Structure: Dirt floors in basement/dungeon. Steep steps, metal walkways, and wind leakage due to some holes in the roof.
Evidence
We captured quite a bit of evidence on video and audio. There was a loud knock on wood in the dungeon when none of the team was down there. There was a faint female voice as well after the knocks that asked, “Who is it?”. This was captured on camera, and there is no wood in the dungeon to knock on. All 3 investigators were in a room directly above with video and audio and never heard the knock or picked up the sound on equipment.
We did a lot of spirit box sessions with some intriguing responses. We asked for a name but got a number. When asked if it was a prison number, we were told yes. We were told several names. We plan to follow up on this information since, without research to back it up, we can’t fully consider it evidence.
In the Dungeon, during a spirit box session, one investigator shined a flashlight into one of the cells, and a voice can be heard on video that says, “See me”. It didn’t come from the spirit box.
We asked to speak with “Smitty” in the death row cell he had been kept in. Smitty disappeared the night before his execution. No body was ever found, and he was never captured later. Escape would have been near impossible. On the spirit box, Smitty responded that he was murdered and buried in the basement. Since the basement, aka dungeon, has a dirt floor, this would be plausible.
Smitty also used an EMF detector to respond to some questions.
Conclusions: We thoroughly enjoyed this location and plan to return to go further with the information we currently have.
